You should have an accurate answer from a home pregnancy test within a couple of weeks after you’ve received your fertility treatment but the majority of clinics will provide this service. However, do remember that there’s always a possibility of a test indicating a false positive result if it is carried out before this time.

Naturally there are other signs of pregnancy for instance: feeling nauseous, using the bathroom more frequently, missed periods, mood swings, weariness and improved sensation of aromas and taste.
Usually the fertility clinic will keep in contact with you so they can go through checks to find out if your baby’s development is healthy. Some others however, do not provide extended care, in which case you will have to make your own arrangements for your prenatal care and birth.
It can take some time for some women to get used to the fact they’re having a baby after successful fertility treatment so don’t concern yourself if, in the beginning, you are not as happy about as you believed you expected to be. This is perfectly normal but the important thing is to accept your feelings whatever they are, and to remember that virtually all mums-to-be go through a mix of emotions on learning they are pregnant whether they have been through fertility treatment or not.
Your pregnancy should not be any harder physically than someone who hasn’t experienced fertility treatment although you may feel it more emotionally trying. Often a woman who is pregnant may find it essential to have more than the normal amount of scans owing to their particular situation. A number of reasons exist including a past miscarriage (or stillbirths), if expecting twins, triplets (or more) plus of course, your general health. Another possible reason could be the pregnant mothers age because the older you become there is the likelihood that complications might occur.
Today there are in excess of a million infants globally that have been delivered using fertility treatment such as In Vitro Fertilization for instance and there is no reason why they shouldn’t be healthy and strong. It must still be remembered though that all medical treatments have some dangers and there isn’t a way of dismissing the small chance of there being a problem, regardless of how the baby was conceived, although most problems are relatively small. Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you are able and relax even though it might be easier said than done.
The average rate of miscarriage following In Vitro Fertilization is a little higher than following normal conception. This can happen because women who have undergone fertility treatment will have a pregnancy test during the early stages of the pregnancy. Whereas a woman who has become pregnant by the natural method could think she has had a late period but has in fact created a fertilized egg that did not implant correctly. Secondly, the risk of spontaneous abortion goes up with the mothers age because women who receive fertility treatment tend, on average to be, older than those who conceive through natural methods. It is obvious that such an emotive subject will raise questions but they would be best dealt with by your own fertility clinic consultant.
